An Energy Performance Certificate, or EPC, is an assessment of a domestic properties’ performance rating in terms of its energy efficiency and environmental impact, to help reduce CO2 output. It takes into account factors such as insulation, heating and hot water systems, ventilation and fuels used, as well as the age of the property to produce the rating.  An EPC is required when a property is sold or put up for rent/leased. It then remains valid for 10 years.
